A panicked woman could be heard pleading with a man laying on the floor of a Clovernook Drive home to “wake up” as she spoke with a Butler County 911 dispatcher.

In another 911 call, a man who said he was “Tim” said, “I shot him.”

The man who was fatally shot was identified Wednesday as Shawn Egner by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Egner, 33, died of multiple gunshots and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the coroner’s office.

“He got shot, my boyfriend got shot,” the woman told dispatchers. “Please help. Please help me.”

After the dispatcher tried to get more information, the woman said, “He’s dead, he’s dead. His eyes are open.”

Hamilton police continue to investigate the Tuesday morning shooting.

Police responded after the early morning 911 calls for a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Clovernook Drive. Hamilton police spokesman Sgt. Brian Ungerbuehler said they are not actively looking for any other suspects.

He said detectives are talking to the man who told a 911 dispatcher he sustained wounds from being pistol whipped, but no charges have been levied at this time. Charges will be dependent on what is said to detectives and a conversation with the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office. Investigators have not said what caused the altercation that resulted in one person’s death.

“It’s still very early,” Ungerbuehler said of the investigation.

According to 911 calls, a neighbor across the street said he heard three or four, “maybe even five” shots fired.

“Tim” in his 911 call was out of breath and immediately asked for “help.” After a few unintelligible words he then said, “I shot him.”

The man said the person he allegedly shot held a gun at him after “some girl lured me over there.” That person squeezed the trigger, but it apparently misfired as “it didn’t go off,” “Tim” said.

After the gun didn’t fire, he said he was pistol whipped in the face.

It’s uncertain when “Tim” allegedly shot the man, but he said after the incident, “I ran out the door and his girl was chasing me.”

The name of the victim and the person in custody are not being released at this time.

Anyone with any information related to this incident should call Detective Kevin Ruhl at 513-868-5811 ext. 1271.
